SEVERAL key improvements to the fan experience will be in place this year for those attending the Repco Bathurst 12 Hour this February 16-18.
An array of new additions and improvements to existing amenities have been designed to improve the spectator experience following feedback from event goers last year.
Improvements to the spectator facilities at The Chase will see a bar, food and drink stands and a big screen in place for fans watching at Australia’s fastest corner.
An additional big screen will also be in place on the inside of Turn 1, Hell Corner, for those watching from the spectator hill at the end of pit straight.
An additional big screen will also be in place in a revised Merchandise and Food area within Harris Park, while additional toilet facilities will be in place throughout key areas of the venue.
With the potential for hot weather, new shade structures will be constructed along pit straight to provide shade for those on the viewing mounds, while water misting zones will be in place in Harris Park and other key areas throughout the venue to allow fans to cool off.
Free water / drinking fountains will also be available throughout the precinct across the event period.
A revised and improved rooftop bar area will also be introduced this year and will again be accessible by all event patrons, with the pit and paddock area access remaining free to all ticketholders.
Full-field autograph sessions will take place on Thursday at the Track to Town parade in Russell Street, and at the circuit on Saturday prior to the final stages of Qualifying on Saturday afternoon.
Off-track activations will grow this year with an array of displays, demonstrations, and activations to be on show in Harris Park throughout the event, including the iconic Chemical Guys Rides & Coffee.
“We’ve taken note of what fans have been saying about how we can improve the event,” Event Director Shane Rudzis said.
“We get a lot of feedback in person, via email and via key internet forums and we take it all in, good and bad.
“The investment in improving amenities this year is proof we’re listening to the fans and putting back into the event as it continues to grow – and we will continue to do so.”
